Be Thankful

During the holidays, we often become busy with work, shopping, baking, and much more and sometimes we forget to spend time with people that mean the most. Be thankful those people are still in your life and make the best of every moment!

For Thanksgiving, I will often have multiple dinners to attend. Two sometimes three dinners to celebrate, eat and get fat with loved ones. This year I have at least two. During those dinners, we like to talk, play games and go through the Black Friday ads.

What are some of your holiday traditions? food

This year, we are sticking with the classic foods for Thanksgiving, turkey, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, stuffing, pumpkin pie, and probably a lot more.

What do you normally eat for dinner?

I also like to sit back after a full meal and read a great book. This year I am reading Starlight Inn by Lucie Ulrich. It’s a fun, Christmas romance and I’m already about half way through. It’s great so far!

Here’s a quick blurb:

On her way to celebrate her birthday and Christmas with her family, Ella Dixon finds herself trapped in the middle of a blizzard. She 61yzcflkmplseeks refuge at The Starlight Inn. Though the inn is full, an elderly guest offers to share her room. Accepting the kind offer, Ella soon realizes Tillie Spencer isn’t your average “little old lady.” She knows things nobody else does, and appears to come and go on a whim.

Nick Wallace runs the inn along with sister, Fran. The attraction Nick feels for Ella is instantaneous and unexpected, but with the miles that separate them, and both busy with their careers, Nick doubts much will come of their Christmas Eve meeting. Tillie, on the other hand, holds a much different view.

Though Tillie won’t admit to being an angel, Nick and Ella think otherwise. How else can they explain the twists and turns that began at The Starlight Inn.

What are you reading this holiday season?

If you need something to read, feel free to check out my book Bleeding Hearts. It’s a romantic suspense about a serial killer and his girlfriend.

Book Review: Blood Kiss

Blood Kiss by Karen Tjebben

bloodkisscover

Alisha Woods knew she was in trouble. The situation was progressing. The harmless flirtation had long past intriguing and now bordered on terrifying. She had to take action, go on the offensive against her stalker. As she opened the door of Young Guns, she promised herself that she’d be ready when he came for her. She would survive.
Mike Lewis lived each day knowing that life could evaporate in a moment. Ghosts followed him, haunting his soul. He craved redemption, a chance to right the wrongs of his past. And when Alisha walked in, he recognized his chance at redemption. He would save her.
After everything Mike had done to prepare her, she thought she was ready. But as the blood spilled from her lips, Alisha’s mind raced for what she could have done differently…
She should have listened to Mike.

I love a good suspense novel! Blood Kiss starts out with the main character(Alisha) buying a gun. She’s done her homework and knows what she wants. I think starting with this scene helps the reader determine just how much trouble Alisha is in. I really like how the author changes points of views. It gives the reader a level of suspense. The romance between Mike and Alisha is a little cute, a little steamy.  I couldn’t stop turning the page. Overall I would rate this book five stars!

Election Day

Are you voting?

vote.png

Every four years, the people of the United States of America vote on the next president. It’s been happening since 1789 as George Washington was elected our first president. Your grandfathers, fathers, brothers, husbands and sons fought for your freedom. And now YOU can fight for your freedom. It is your right to vote. So, whether you are voting Republican or Democrat, or for the third party, just go. Vote for your country and your freedom. Vote for who you believe in. Vote for the chance of a better country. Go find your voting location and cast your ballad. This year couldn’t be anymore different.

NANOWRIMO FUN!

Nanowrimo… What is it?

Well, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. It’s a non-profit program where writersnano and authors from all around the world write their story in one month. That month is November! Yes, during the holidays you may see strange posts about people talking about winning Nanowrimo.

How do you win?

Simply hit that 50,000 word mark. All you have to do is write 1, 667 words per day for the whole month of November and you are a winner. It doesn’t matter if you plan out your novel beforehand (like so many people do) or if you start with a single idea and pants your way through. There’s no ‘right’ way to win Nano.

What am I writing this year?

I don’t always participate in Nano, but this year I have a goal in which I plan on sticking to. I’m working on a Young Adult suspense titled SCARRED. Jules Martinez was in love at fifteen, but her love story turned into a nightmare when she found herself a victim of domestic abuse. To help with her fear and ending a bad relationship, she joins a mixed martial arts gym, training every day. Now eighteen years old and ready to go to college, she still suffers from her past. But it gets worse when Christopher comes back into her life again.

Sound fun? Here’s a meme I made for my book. You never know, this might be the next book I publish.

This is only day two, but I’ve written more today then I ever have during Nano. Let’s see how much you can write.

So, stretch out those fingers, open your mind and start writing. You may be surprised on what you come up with.

Happy Writing!
